Neil Diamond, the renowned singer, songwriter, and performer, declared earlier today that he would be retiring from touring as a result of his recent Parkinson’s disease diagnosis.
His doctors advised him to stop touring, according to a press release provided to E! News. The singer of “Sweetheart Caroline” was supposed to kick off the third leg of Diamond’s 50th anniversary tour in Australia and New Zealand in March.
“I must say that I am retiring from concert touring, and I am very sorry about this. For the past 50 years, I have been so honored to present my shows to the public,” Diamond said in a statement.
“I sincerely apologize to everyone who bought tickets and intended to attend the forthcoming performances. For a very long time, I intend to continue working on writing, recording, and other projects.”
The 76-year-old musician went on, saying, “I want to express my gratitude to all of my devoted and loyal fans worldwide. I will always be grateful for all of your help and inspiration. Thanks to you, this ride has been “so good, so good, so good.”
