‘Swans, Blues, daylight’: Breathtaking win has ‘main event Carlton’ now ‘primed for a charge’
Four-time premiership Hawk Jordan Lewis has lauded “main event Carlton” in the wake of its powerful statement win over Geelong, declaring the Swans and Blues are “daylight” ahead of the rest of the AFL competition.
The Blues on Friday night won their fourth game on the trot to solidify second spot on the ladder, thumping Geelong by 63 points at the MCG.
They kicked their highest score of the year – 21.12 (138) – while restricting the Cats to just 75 points for the night.
Led by Tom De Koning in the ruck, Carlton’s midfield obliterated Geelong, while Charlie Curnow, Harry McKay and Matt Owies combined for 11 goals. But those forwards were three of 12 individual goalkickers for Carlton in a team-orientated performance.,
“This Carlton side is main event now,” Lewis told Fox Footy post-game. “I think it’s Sydney and them and then it’s daylight to the rest of the competition.
“When you look across the board in terms of positions they’ve got filled and need filled, there’s not too many.
