The Turkish media is rumored to be interested in Trabzonspor signing defender Fabian Schar of Newcastle United.
The Trabzon club has been linked to several English players in recent weeks as they look to bolster their squad for the upcoming summer.
The Super Lig team has reportedly turned their focus to the Newcastle player after the negotiations to sign Samuel Gigot of Marseille broke down, according to Karadeniz Gazete.
Although the Frenchman and his club have reached an agreement, they are finding it difficult to persuade him to relocate to Turkey. The Frenchman is reportedly the Super Lig’s top target.
They are allegedly now pursuing Schar, according to rumors that they have spoken with the central defender. Trabzonspor is hoping to negotiate a fair deal by taking advantage of his contract situation with the Premier League team.
Any potential discussions are probably going to take place after the tournament, as the 32-year-old is currently playing for the Swiss national team in Germany. The team has qualified for the Euro 2024 knockout stages.
Schar appeared in 47 games for Newcastle United in the previous campaign, tallying five goals.
