The Sydney Kings’ starting five is looking ominous heading into NBL25, with star import Jaylen Adams putting pen-to-paper on a new one-year deal.

The NBL22 MVP joins championship teammate Xavier Cooks, new signings Bul Kuol and Cam Oliver and Next Star Alex Toohey to form an intimidating combination for opposition teams.Jaylen Adams returns to Sydney for the NBL25 season

Adams didn’t quite reach the peaks of his debut season across NBL24, after returning from a year away from the club, but with averages of 19.5 points, 3.2 rebounds and 5.3 assists is still very much in the conversation among the top handful of players in the league.

“I’m excited to have him back. Jaylen is one of the most talented players in the league. He’s motivated to return, have a great year and win a championship,” Kings coach Brian Goorjian said.

“One of the most important pieces in recruitment was this point guard position. I’m very confident in his ability, especially considering his understanding of the team, the league, and the city of Sydney itself.”

Adams took all before him in NBL22, winning the league MVP, named among the All-NBL First Team and a member of Sydney’s championship team.

The Kings now have one roster spot remaining, which Goorjian said is likely to be filled by a local.

Experienced stars Angus Glover and Jordan Hunter moved to the South East Melbourne Phoenix in the off-season, while imports DJ Hogg and Denzel Valentine were also among the key departures.
