Unexpected to be: he is back just now….

West Ham United have reportedly made an improved bid of £40 million for Wolverhampton Wanderers centre-back Maximilian Kilman.

The Hammers, who saw a £25 million offer rejected two weeks ago, have made it publicly clear that Kilman is their priority target to bolster the centre of defence.

The Telegraph reports West Ham have officially offered £40 million to sign Kilman. Wolves are yet to respond but, rather crucially, they are expected to accept.

Fabrizio Romano has verified this information, suggesting the Hammers are now closing in on the acquisition of Kilman – with the same £40 million figure reported.

It’s claimed that the defender has already agreed on personal terms with West Ham as new manager Julen Lopetegui is desperate to reunite with his former colleague

This update comes as a big blow for Newcastle United, who hold a strong interest in Kilman and recently had an offer of their own – £30 million plus Elliot Anderson – rejected.

Lopetegui made Kilman captain for the first time while at Wolves. The pair enjoyed a strong few months to soar out of relegation reckoning and reach the 41-point mark.

If all goes to plan, the pair will work with one another once again but this time at London Stadium.
