“Back in Black” by AC/DC smashes a new sales record in the US.
With 26 million cumulative sales, AC/DC’spopular1980 album “Back in Black” has received a 26 x Platinum certification in the US.

According to the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), the iconic album officially reached the milestone on Monday, July 8.
Three months after its release, in October 1980, “Back In Black” became platinum for the first time. In December 2019, it was certified 25 times platinum.

“Back in Black,” AC/DC’sfirstalbum with Brian Johnson on vocals, was produced by Robert John “Mutt” Lang. The album’s singles include “You Shook Me All Night Long,” “Hells Bells,” “Rock and Roll Ain’t Noise Pollution,” and the title track.

“Back in Black” is currently the fourth best-selling record in the United States according to the RIAA, behind the Eagles’ “Their Greatest Hits (1971–1975)” (38 platinum records), Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” (34 platinum records), and the Eagles’ “Hotel California” (26 platinum records).

In addition to physical sales and digital downloads, the RIAA has been incorporating on-demand audio and video streams into their sales data since February 2016.

Eight-time platinum album “Highway to Hell,” Bon Scott’s last album, is AC/DC’snextbest-selling album in the United States.

On Sunday night, July 7, the current lineup of AC/DC performed at London’s Wembley Stadium for the second of two sold-out performances.
