Gold medalist Shericka Jackson suffers a career ending injury during……

As the Paris Olympics approach, track and field champion Shericka Jackson gets hurt.
Jamaican superstar Shericka Jackson was leading a women’s 200-meter race in Hungary on Tuesday when she abruptly pulled up in what appeared to be pain. Jackson owns three of the four fastest times in the history of the event.

The purpose of the event was to prepare for the next Olympics. Later this month in Paris, the 2024 Summer Games will get underway.

Jackson’s suspected injury is the latest blow to the Jamaican team; Elaine Thompson-Herah, the Olympic champion in the women’s 100 and 200 meters, had already withdrew from the Games due to an injury.

It’s still unclear what exactly Jackson might have been injured.

With about 50 meters left in the race, Jackson started to limp, but she managed to cross the finish line on her own.
Julien Alfred of St. Lucia finished first in the end, clocking a season-best time of 22.16 seconds to wrap up the competition. Lanae-Tava Thomas, a sprinter, finished third.

In the 400-meter competition, Jackson won a bronze medal in Rio de Janeiro in 2016. Later, at the Olympics in Tokyo, she took home the gold in the 4×100-meter relay.

Jackson is anticipated to be the top threat to American sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson in the 100-meter event if she is well enough to compete in Paris.

Following her 10.71-second finish in the women’s 100-meter race last month, Richardson will make her Olympic debut.
