2024 NRL Signings Tracker: Jamie Young’s debut one day, new club the next Jamie Humphreys, a playmaker for Manly, will sign a two-year contract with the Rabbitohs in 2025.
In the Sea Eagles’ thrilling 44-6 victory over the Knights on Sunday, the 22-year-old made his NRL debut. He also scored the game’s first try.
The head coach of the Rabbitohs, Mark Ellison, stated, “We have been watching Jamie for a number of years and we have always been impressed by his style of play and his work ethic.”
He scored a try and kicked three goals in his first-grade debut yesterday. He has participated in several Pre-Season Challenge games.He has consistently displayed strong play in the halves or at hooker.”
Sydney Roosters’ eighth-place finish Luke Keary has chosen to continue playing in the Super League, and he will join Raiders captain Elliott Whitehead at Catalans for the upcoming season.
Keary had declared his retirement earlier this year, but he will now play on in France. He has won premierships with South Sydney and the Roosters, while representing NSW, Australia, and Ireland.
“I can’t wait to play for the Catalans Dragons. “I’m excited to help the team succeed,” Keary said after agreeing to a two-year contract with the Catalans, whose head coach Steve McNamara was formerly with the Roosters.
Whitehead has participated in 198 NRL games and 36 Test matches, including the World Cups of 2017 and 2022, for the Dragons from 2013 to 2015 before moving on to the Raiders in 2016.
Matty Nicholson, another English forward, will join the Raiders on a new three-year contract starting with the 2025 season, coinciding with his departure.
Under Sam Burgess’ coaching, Nicholson made his Super League debut for Wigan in 2022 before moving on to Warrington in 2023, where he established himself as a mainstay in the starting lineup.
Together with current Raiders forward Morgan Smithies, the 20-year-old made his Test debut for England against France in 2023.
He recently participated in the 2024 Challenge Cup Final at Wembley Stadium, which Warrington lost to Wigan by a narrow margin.
Don Furner, CEO of the Raiders, stated that Nicholson’s signing will provide another young, talented English player the chance to pursue his NRL ambitions.
According to Furner, “The Raiders have had some amazing success in bringing young English players to Canberra and helping them become NRL stars.”
“We hope to have Matty join us in 2025, and we wish him the best of luck for the rest of the Warrington season.”
Josh Aloiai, a prop for the Sea Eagles, has agreed to a two-year contract extension that will keep him with the team through at least the end of the 2027 campaign.
Aloiai, 28, is a veteran of 150 NRL games, 60 of which he played for Manly. He has also represented Samoa internationally.
“As far as I’m concerned, Josh is playing as well as he has ever played,” Manly coach Anthony Seibold said.
“Among other young forwards, Josh is a true mentor to guys like Haumole Olakau’atu and Gordon Chan Kum Tong.”
Titans captain Kieran Foran has agreed to stay with the team through the end of the 2025 season by signing a one-year extension.
After making his NRL debut in 2009, the New Zealand international will be entering his 17th season next year.
“I feel like I’ve played some good football this season so far, and my body feels good, so I’m eager to push for another year,” Foran stated.
The announcement follows Carter Gordon, a rugby union convert from the Gold Coast, receiving an early release to start club training. Prior to joining Gold Coast’s top 30 roster in 2025, the 23-year-old will play this season as a member of the club’s extended squad.
Luke Laulilii, a junior at Wests Tigers, has been promoted to the NRL Top 30 for the balance of the 2024 season.
The 18-year-old, who was on a training contract, made his wing debut in Round 16 against the Raiders in the NRL.
Jack de Belin, an international player for Papua New Guinea, and the Dragons have extended their contract by one year.
Since his 2011 debut, the 33-year-old has participated in 220 NRL games, all of which have been at the Dragons.
In addition, he has appeared in three Test matches for Papua New Guinea and three State of Origin matches for NSW.
Additionally, Mathew Feagai, an emerging outside back, has been locked down by the Dragons through the end of 2026.
Since making his NRL debut in 2021, the 23-year-old has participated in 55 games. He was recently awarded a new two-year contract by coach Shane Flanagan in recognition of his progress.
Flanagan stated, “We are really happy with the effort that Mat has made this year to force his way back into the NRL side.”
“We are confident that he will continue to improve his game. He is a talented and versatile outside back.”
Playmaker Tyson Gamble has re-signed with the Knights for a two-year contract that will expire at the end of the 2026 campaign.
Since joining the Knights at the beginning of the previous season, Gamble has appeared in 32 games for the Brisbane Broncos.
According to Knights director of football Peter Parr, “Tyson plays with a toughness that has earned the respect of his teammates and this community.” His energy and enthusiasm are contagious for everyone around him.
“We are happy that Tyson will stay a Newcastle Knight; his selfless attitude towards our club made extending his contract an easy decision.”
In 2025, the Roosters will sign veteran playmaker Chad Townsend to a one-year contract.
Over the course of his 14-year career, Townsend has played in 258 NRL games, winning a premiership with the Sharks in 2016.
After spending his third and last season with the North Queensland Cowboys, he will sign with the Sydney Roosters.
“We are excited to have Chad join our 2025 team later this year. His experience is a great asset,” Roosters head of recruitment Daniel Anderson said.
Daine Laurie re-signed with the Panthers for the 2025 campaign, the team announced.
Laurie, who returned to the Panthers at the beginning of the current campaign, has agreed to a one-year contract extension with the team.
