Caitlin Clark breaks the WNBA record for single-game assists as the Dallas Wings defeat the Indiana Fever 101-93.
Clark recorded a record 19 assists prior to the All-Star and Olympic breaks, but the Fever were unable to overcome the Wings.
No matter what happens, Caitlin Clark continues to shatter records for the Indiana Fever.

Once more, the WNBA rookie excelled. Wednesday, as the Fever lost 101-93 to the Dallas Wings, she surpassed the WNBA single-game record for assists with a career-high 19.
With the performance, Clark also broke Tina Penicheiro’s 1998 record of 16 assists in a single game as a rookie. With 202 assists in 26 games, Clark has also surpassed the Fever’s single-season franchise assist record. Currently held by Alyssa, the WNBA single-season record stands at 316.

Clark also surpasses her prior career high, which she hit several times this season, most notably on July 6 during the Fever’s thrilling victory over the New York Liberty. When the Fever overcame the top-ranked Liberty in that game, Clark made WNBA history by becoming the first rookie to record a triple-double.

Before the All-Star and Olympic breaks, the WNBA concluded with a bang with the Fever-Wings game. Despite Dallas’ early dominance—it led the Fever by as much as 16 points at one point—Indiana rallied to cut the deficit to eight points at the half.

Following a third-quarter tightening of the score, the fourth quarter saw lead changes and a large portion of the final frame being tied between the two teams. Dallas ultimately managed to hold off the Fever thanks to some valiant play from star guard Arike Ogunbowale.

Both teams had standout duos in Ogunbowale and Odyssey Sims, who finished with 24 points apiece for Dallas. Boston scored a career-high 28 points for the Fever, while Clark scored 24 for the team.

Clark is once again putting on a strong show for her Rookie of the Year campaign with the historic performance. With 7.8 assists per game, Clark leads the league and has established herself as a key member of the Fever’s starting lineup.

With the victory, Dallas improves to 6-19 but remains at the bottom of the WNBA standings. The Fever, on the other hand, are firmly in the middle at 11–15.

The All-Star Game between Team USA and Team WNBA will take place on Saturday as the WNBA enters its All-Star break. Before the WNBA takes a break for the 2024 Olympics, Clark, Boston, and Ogunbowale, who are all members of the Team WNBA roster, will play against the Team USA roster.
