Essendon Bombers vs Gold Coast Suns Prediction: Suns have a chance to return to winning ways

Australian Football League action moves to Marvel Stadium, where Essendon Bombers will play Gold Coast Suns in round 22 encounter. The two teams have struggled so much this season, but the Bombers are the better team. How will this encounter unfold?

The Essendon Bombers returned to winning ways last weekend against Fremantle Dockers with a one-point win. In a game that ended 90-89, the Essendon Bombers have now won two of their previous five matches, with the first being an 80-92 win over the Collingwood Magpies. However, the Essendon Bombers suffered defeats at the hands of Melbourne Demons, Adelaide Crows and St Kilda Saints in that run of fixtures. Heading into this round 22, Essendon Bombers have 46 points accumulated from 20 matches, leaving them 2 points adrift from playoff-placed side Carlton Blues.

Gold Coast Suns suffered a defeat in their last league encounter against West Coast Eagles, which ended 97-87. However, that defeat was Gold Coast Suns’ third in a row and their fourth in five consecutive matches. In that run of matches, the Gold Coast Suns’ lone victory came against Port Adelaide Power in a home game that ended 96-82. However, this team lost to North Melbourne Kangaroos, GWS Giants, and Brisbane Lions in other encounters. The Gold Coast Suns have accumulated 36 points from 20 matches this season and are presently seated 13th in the standings. AFL 2022: What's gone wrong at Essendon Bombers this season?

The Gold Coast Suns are not at their best right now, and on the road, it is okay to be underdogs. However, despite working very hard to make the playoffs, the Essendon Bombers are not one of the sides that have shown they can compete so well. Despite being favorites at home, I do not fancy the Essendon Bombers, and I will instead lean on the Suns to close the odds. Also, with the two teams’ defenses struggling, I expect this game to end with a high number of points.
