Noles News: FSU heads down to Duval for two-day Jacksonville minicamp
After a pair of practices in Tallahassee, Florida State football is now headed down I-10 to DUUUUUVVVALLLL — an annual tradition since head coach Mike Norvell took the reigns. Jordan Silversmith has the deets from Dunlap:
After yesterday’s physical session, Norvell lightened the load and focused heavily on situational football, special teams, and crossover work.
To begin the day, the offense and defense swapped spots, learning how to properly tackle or protect the ball. Afterward, the team played in the first 11-on-11 situational period.
DJ Uiagaelelei put together one of the best offensive drives of the spring. He presented poise in the pocket, keeping eyes downfield and extending plays if needed. His chemistry with Malik Benson grows each practice, and the two hooked up for multiple intermediate routes over the middle. The transfer QB led his team into field goal range, and Ryan Fitzgerald capped off the drill with three points.
The defense responded towards the end of the morning with suffocating coverage on the backend and a ferocious pass rush. They easily won the third down portion of practice as the creativity and intensity overwhelmed the offensive attack.
