Hawthorn broke a five-game drought against the Tigers in round 14, beating Richmond 48 points which spoiled Dustin Martin’s 30th game celebrations.
Hawthorn Form
Hawthorn bounced back from their disappointing loss to GWS in round 21 with an emphatic 112-38 victory over Carlton, pushing the Blues out of the finals bracket and stealing their spot in the eight.
Since losing five-straight to start the year the Hawks have arguably been the best team in the comp, losing just 4 games since then with two losses by two points or less. Their 74-point win over Carlton stamped their authority and that was with 50% accuracy in front of goal, kicking 16.16.
The Hawks ball movement was at its best against Carlton with Hawthorn having 77 more disposals than their opposition with 435 in the match, 79 more than their season average.
It is exactly this type of game that has the rest of the AFL looking over their shoulders at the Hawks who play a controlled style of footy that is really tough to contain.
Hawthorn Team News
