Breach of contract: the Tennessee Titans has announced unexpected announcement regarding Robert Woods

Should Rams consider bringing back former wideout if released?

Robert Woods was one of the best, most underrated free agent signings in L.A. Rams history when he signed with the squad in March 2017. The veteran wide receiver spent five seasons in Los Angeles before being traded to the Titans. Woods could be in need of a new home with roster cutdowns on the horizon — should the Rams consider a reunion?Rams should consider reuniting with Robert Woods if released by Texans - Turf Show Times

The former Rams star might be finding himself on the wrong end of the trimmings as he’s largely viewed on the roster bubble in Houston. Nothing about the Texans potentially moving one would come as a surprise. His days of being a WR1 are likely behind him as Woods will be 32 entering this season.

The last time the vet was considered a top target was during his lone season in Tennessee. During the 2022 campaign, Woods led the Titans with 53 catches for 527 yards and two touchdowns in 17 starts. All career-low numbers at the time, but enough for the offensively inept Titans that year. Sheesh.

After the Titans released him, Woods stayed within the division to join Houston. In 14 appearances, Woods had 40 receptions for 426 yards and one score through the air as he got pushed aside by younger playmakers like Nico Collins and Tank Dell. Plus the Texans added Stefon Diggs this offseason, further phasing Woods out of the lineup.

Even if he were to consider a reunion with Sean McVay and Matthew Stafford, Woods would be walking into a similar situation to what he currently has in Houston.

The Rams already have a crowded receiving room to sort out with Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua at the top of the depth chart. Demarcus Robinson, Tutu Atwell and rookie Jordan Whittington also figure to attract plenty of targets in 2024. Woods might not fit into LA’s plans now, yet he could be a serviceable depth piece if no team moves to acquire him immediately after cutdowns.

I find it unlikely that no one would have some interest in Woods if he’s cut. While he is no longer the guy that recorded back-to-back 1,000-yard campaigns with the Rams from 2018-19, he is a solid veteran addition any team would be lucky to have on the roster.

If the time and situation feels right, the Rams should at least consider bringing Bobby Trees home for a second act in LA, assuming the Texans cut bait with him by Tuesday.
