News now: Barcelona head coach announce Johan Cruyff is back

Barcelona forward shatters Johan Cruyff’s record in almost half the time

Robert Lewandowski continues to demonstrate his immense value to Barcelona, making a significant impact against Valencia once again.

In his very first match of his third season with the Catalan giants, Lewandowski has already etched his name deeper into the club’s storied history.

By scoring a brace that secured all three points for Barcelona, the Polish striker has surpassed one of the club’s most iconic figures, Johan Cruyff, in the goalscoring charts.

Lewandowski’s tally now stands at 61 goals in just 96 appearances as Barcelona’s number ‘9’. This achievement outshines Johan Cruyff, who managed to score 60 goals in 180 matches over five seasons during his time at the club.

While Cruyff’s role was more varied—often orchestrating play from different areas of the pitch and excelling in creating opportunities for his teammates—Lewandowski’s efficiency in front of goal has been nothing short of remarkable.
