Aidan Hutchinson has just announce unexpected news…

Lions News: All-22 tape shows why Aidan Hutchinson is special

From the outside, it’s evident Aidan Hutchinson is one of the better players in the NFL. With an even closer eye, it becomes clear that there are so many fine details that go into his advanced play.

In his latest episode of “The Film Room,” Brett Kollmann takes a deeper dive into just what makes 97 so special in a nearly 20 minute video. The stellar analysis starts with an idea Kollman took away from the OL Masterminds summit in Dallas — power is the foundation of trench play.

“If you don’t have power, you don’t have anything. Luckily for Lions fans, Aidan Hutchinson has a tremendous amount of power,” he said.

At about seven minutes in, Kollman examines a specific play, pointing out all minute techniques Hutchinson uses to get to the quarterback — from arm placements to hip movements to thwarting the offensive lineman’s attack. It all results in a sack fumble, and it all happens so quickly.

“Without breaking it down frame by frame, you probably wouldn’t even see it because it’s so fast — strike, drive, neutralize, turn, disengage, rip and finish — all in under like a second and a half,” Kollmann said. “I mean guys, it truly does not get any better than this rep. This is the definition of teach tape.”

I’ve scratched the surface here but the whole video is absolutely worth a watch to see exactly what he’s talking about.
