Tottenham could still sign £150m Nottingham Forest player and then change his position
Tottenham Hotspur have had a busy transfer window, and they may not be finished yet.
Indeed, despite making three big-money signings, Spurs could still have a trick up their sleeve.
Tottenham are still keen to sign a new midfielder, and according to Dean Jones, speaking on the Ranks FC Podcast, they have their eye on a player within the Premier League.
According to Jones, Morgan Gibbs-White is a player Tottenham like, but, interestingly, they view him as more of a deeper midfielder.
Tottenham keen on Morgan Gibbs-White
Jones shared what he knows about the Nottingham Forest star and Tottenham’s interest.
“One thing I have been told a few times if that they want someone with power from the midfield. Morgan Gibbs-White is someone they like but they like him as more of a number eight breaking out, not as a traditional number eight. They like that and they like Joao Gomes at Wolves,” Jones said.
Morgan Gibbs-White could be brilliant for Tottenham
The idea of Gibbs-White joining Tottenham and playing as a marauding number eight is very exciting.
The Forest star certainly has the attributes to play that role. He’s strong, he’s quick and he’s brilliant on the ball.
Ange Postecoglou certainly knows how to use players of this mould, he helped Matt O’Riley become a top player at Celtic, and Gibbs-White is very much cut from that same cloth.
Gibbs-White could be just what the doctor ordered at Tottenham, but getting this deal done won’t be easy.
Indeed, Gibbs-White already cost Forest £150m when he joined the club, and given his improvement in recent years, you have to imagine his value has only increased.
Whether or not Spurs have the financial capabilities to do this deal is unclear, but if they were to sign Gibbs-White, they’d be getting a very talented footballer.
This could be a situation to keep an eye on in the final days of this transfer window.
