Vikings Release Duke Shelley, Waive Dallas Gant
We’ve gotten a couple more moves from the Minnesota Vikings ahead of the 3:00 PM roster deadline.
Various sources are reporting that the Vikings will release cornerback Duke Shelley to get themselves closer to their initial 53-man roster. In addition, the team will be waiving UDFA linebacker Dallas Gant.
Shelley was reunited with the Vikings during training camp while they were dealing with some injury issues at cornerback. He had performed well for the Vikings towards the end of the 2022 season but did not make enough of an impression to stick with the team this year, at least not initially.
Gant graded out fairly well for the Vikings’ defense during the preseason and will likely be brought back to the practice squad if he makes his way through the waiver process.
With these two moves, the Vikings are down to 64 players and need to make 11 more moves in the next hour and a half or so in order to get down to 53. We’re going to be keeping track of all the moves that they make on our Roster Cut Tracker and will have the full 53-man roster as soon as the Vikings finalize it.
