Triste noticia: Brynäs si el entrenador anuncia el regreso de un jugador clave después de muchos años de ausencia…

It’s official: Jakob Silfverberg returns to Brynäs

It was highly expected last week when Jakob Silfverberg of the Anaheim Ducks announced he was leaving the NHL and now it’s official. The Brynäs IF website has announced that the 33-year-old is coming home to the city of Gävle and the club he grew up playing for.

“The dialogue actually started already last summer, that’s when it became serious that I would come home to Brynäs and play,” said Silfverberg. “Since I went over, it has always been there in my mind, but last summer I was in closer contact with (Brynäs IF sports director Johan) Alcén, so it was actually sometime around then that I made the decision that this would be my last season in the NHL.

I am extremely excited about what is to come.

“Bringing Jakob home of course feels incredibly good and exciting,” said Alcén. “Jakob doesn’t really need any further introduction. What he has achieved during his career speaks for itself. Everyone knows what qualities he possesses both on and off the ice and with his heart for the club, he is invaluable. It is one of our greats who is heading home and he has really been clear from the start that he wants to come home regardless of league affiliation, we are very grateful for the goodwill Jakob has shown to reach this solution on the spot.”

As Alcén mentioned, it’s still not clear which league Brynäs will play in next year. The team currently plays in the second-tier HockeyAllsvenskan, with the finals against Djurgården IF starting on Wednesday, with the winner of the series going up. Silferberg, however, says he’s committed either way.

“There will be different conditions, but if it’s the HockeyAllsvenskan, everyone knows what the goal is. If it’s the SHL, the goal is to start setting out the journey towards a title,” said Silfverberg
