Toronto Argonauts sign former Hamilton Tiger-Cats’ DB Kenneth George Jr.

The Toronto Argonauts have signed American defensive back Kenneth George Jr., who was released by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on Aug. 20.

The 27-year-old started 10 games at halfback for the Ticats this year, beginning the season on the boundary side before moving over to the field side. He recorded 39 tackles, one tackle for loss, two interceptions, one of which was taken back for a touchdown, and four pass knockdowns over those starts.

In his rookie season with Hamilton in 2023, the native of Lafayette, La. made 43 tackles, two interceptions, one sack, and one forced fumble over 18 games.

The five-foot-eleven, 203-pound defender played in 33 collegiate games and made 10 starts over four seasons at the University of Tennessee, recording 52 tackles, one tackle for loss, one interception, 10 pass knockdowns, and one fumble recovery.

Before becoming a Volunteer, George spent two years at Trinity Valley Community College, recording 27 tackles and two interceptions over 11 games.

Prior to coming north of the border, George was signed as an undrafted NFL free agent by the Tennessee Titans back in May 2022.

The Toronto Argonauts (6-4) will visit the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (2-9) for the annual Labour Day Classic on Monday, Sept. 2 with kickoff slated for 2:30 p.m. EDT.
