The AFL has today moved the Week 2, Western Bulldogs vs Port Adelaide NAB AFLW match from the Whitten Oval to the MCG

The AFL has today moved the Week 2, Western Bulldogs vs Port Adelaide NAB AFLW match from the Whitten Oval to the MCG.

The match remains on Friday September 6 and will begin at 4:30pm AEST (previously 5:05pm AEST), in what will now become a double header at the MCG with the AFL Elimination Final between the Western Bulldogs and Hawthorn to follow. The start time for the final remains unchanged at 7:40pm AEST.

Anyone with a ticket to the sold-out AFL Elimination final will have the ability to get to the MCG early to watch the NAB AFLW match if they choose. Gates will open at 4:00pm.

Fans who had purchased tickets to the NAB AFLW match at Whitten Oval will now receive a ticket to the MCG for both games at no additional cost, thanks to the competition’s major partner NAB. Ticket holders will be contacted directly by the ticketing agent.

Additionally, NAB have also arranged for a number of tickets to be made available to Western Bulldogs W members to attend the double header, with these tickets to be allocated by the Club.

The Friday night MCG event is sold out to the general public with a crowd of 90,000 expected on the night.

The AFL thanked the multitude of stakeholders involved in making this happen, including the Western Bulldogs, Port Adelaide and Hawthorn, the MCG, league partners Toyota and NAB and broadcast partners Foxtel and Channel 7.

“The next month of footy is the best of the year, with the start of the NAB AFLW Season and the Toyota AFL Finals Series.” AFL EGM Football Laura Kane said.

“We were presented with a unique set of circumstances, and following discussions with the Bulldogs, Port Adelaide and Hawthorn, the MCG and our broadcast partners, there was universal alignment on trying to maximise the AFLW crowd considering the Western Bulldogs involvement in both matches.

“We encourage anyone with a ticket to the MCG on Friday next week to get to the ground early and enjoy what will be a great AFLW matchup between the Bulldogs and the Power.

“On behalf of everyone at the AFL, I want to thank everyone involved in making this happen so quickly, especially to our AFLW major partner NAB for supporting us every step of the way, as they have done so for many, many years.”

The NAB AFLW match will be broadcast on Foxtel / Kayo, while the AFL Elimination Final will be broadcast on the Seven Network and Foxtel / Kayo.

All four matches for Week One of the 2024 Toyota AFL Finals Series are sold out. Any further ticket releases will be communicated in the lead up to each match.
