Kadyn Proctor injury update: What Kalen DeBoer said about Alabama football left tackle

Kadyn Proctor was gearing up to start at left tackle in Alabama football’s season opener.

He went through warmups, but he didn’t finish them. He left early to go to the locker room with the training staff. When he emerged, he was no longer in uniform. It looked to be a left upper body injury.

“Caught me by surprise,” Alabama coach Kalen DeBoer said postgame. “Couldn’t go tonight. We’ll continue to evaluate tomorrow just to see the severity of it. We’ll kind of know more as the week goes on.”

Elijah Pritchett replaced Proctor at left tackle, the position Pritchett worked at in the spring. With Pritchett at left tackle, Alabama went on to crush Western Kentucky 63-0 on Saturday at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

When Proctor left the field postgame, he was seen with a white shirt. That was pulled over his left arm.

Proctor earned the starting left tackle job back in August after he transferred back to Alabama from Iowa. Proctor had departed in the transfer portal right after Nick Saban retired.

Pritchett primarily played right tackle during practices this fall, listed as an “or” starter on the depth chart alongside Wilkin Formby. But he was called into duty at left tackle on Saturday. If Proctor misses time with the injury, that is sure to continue.
