Stoke City team news vs Watford as Andrew Moran and Bae Junho in squad
Breaking news from Vicarage Road as Stoke City take on Watford in the Championship
Andrew Moran and Bae Junho are named among the substitutes as Stoke City take on Watford at Vicarage Road.
Steven Schumacher keeps faith with the same starting XI from last weekend’s league win over Coventry as he tries to make it six points out of six to start the season. Junho is fit and the paperwork for Moran was completed in time but both will start the afternoon from the bench. Ryan Mmaee is also among the subs.
Viktor Johansson starts in goal behind a back four of Junior Tchamadeu, Eric Bocat, Ben Wilmot and captain Ben Gibson. Jordan Thompson is in holding midfield next to Wouter Burger and Josh Laurent. Emre Tezgel leads the line flanked by Lynden Gooch and Million Manhoef.
Frank Fielding remains back-up keeper while Lewis Koumas is in the league squad for the first time after making his Stoke debut in a 2-0 Carabao Cup win at Carlisle on Tuesday. Daniel Johnson, Lewis Baker, Sol Sidibe and Jaden Dixon complete the substitutes list.
Schumacher said at his pre-match press conference: “Watford have got off to a good start. They had a good win last weekend and won convincingly in the week in the cup. Like always with Watford you need to be aware of their individual players. They always have some pace and power. They were like that last year. They had some forward players who could be devastating on the day and then they’ve carried on again after finishing quite well. It’s never an easy game going to any away opponent and we’ll have to be at our best to get something from it.”
