Heartbreaking News: Indiana Hoosiers announces the suspension of 2 talented players just now….

Report: IU basketball’s first true road game of 2024-25 will be at Nebraska

If Indiana has revenge on their minds when it comes to Nebraska, that opportunity will arrive early in the Big Ten portion of the 2024-25 season.

Jon Rothstein is reporting IU’s first true road game of the season will be Dec. 13 when the Hoosiers travel to Lincoln to face the Cornhuskers.  That’s Friday the 13th if you’re the superstitious type, and keeping score at home.

IU does not play any true road games during the nonconference portion of their schedule.

Because the game at Nebraska falls on Friday, it should mean Indiana will host their first Big Ten game earlier in that same week.

The Hoosiers host Miami (Ohio) on Friday, Dec. 6, leaving a window before the Nebraska game for a Big Ten home opener.  Following the Nebraska game, Indiana will likely have a week off for final exams before hosting Chattanooga on Dec. 21.

Indiana lost three games to Nebraska in 2023-24, and all three games were not close.

The Hoosiers lost 86-70 in Lincoln, 85-70 in Bloomington, and 93-66 in a season-ending loss at the Big Ten Tournament in Minneapolis.

Fortunately for the Hoosiers, guard Kesei Tominaga is no longer with Nebraska.  He scored 71 points over the three games and made 12 three-pointers in those contests.  Under the direction of head coach Fred Hoiberg, the Huskers do welcome back potent wing scorers Brice Williams (13.4 PPG) and Juwan Gary (11.6 PPG).  Center Rienk Mast is still with the program but will miss the upcoming season due to injury.

Those three blowout losses came directly on the heels of a seven-game Indiana winning streak over Nebraska.

This will be the fourth time the Big Ten has paired up Indiana and Nebraska in an early December game since the 2019-20 season.

Rothstein’s report is a good clue the full Big Ten schedule will be released very soon.
