Pat McAfee reacts to New Orleans Saints’ huge win over Carolina Panthers in Week 1
You cannot ask for much more if you are a New Orleans Saints fan after Week 1. Your team dominated a divisional foe in a meaningful way that put the entire NFL on notice.
Derek Carr’s new offense under Klint Kubiak was efficient. The defense looked hungry. Special teams was clean. It was an incredible outing from Dennis Allen’s squad, and ESPN’s Pat McAfee took notice.
McAfee notes how impressive the Saints were when no one was expecting that sort of dominance from them against any opponent.
He says that he thinks no one really expected much from the Saints this season, possibly outside of Saints players – themselves. McAfee recognizes that his comment may come off as disrespect to the Saints, but he owns that.
He’s not particularly wrong there, either. They were widely not expected to return to the postseason in 2024. Regardless, McAfee gave the Saints their beautiful flowers for their Week 1 win.
