MVP: Bates is back
Hawthorn skipper Emily Bates has been named the Week 3 MVP.
Hawthorn Captain Emily Bates has been nominated as the Week 3 MVP following the Hawks’ 26-point loss to Adelaide at Thomas Farms Oval.
Bates returned to the team this week and managed an equal team-high 28 disposals and an equal game-high six tackles.
She also booted a goal, with the crucial major coming late in the third term to keep the Hawks in the hunt.
In typical Bates fashion, the captain recorded 13 contested possessions in a dominant display.
Bates and the Hawks will look to return to the winners’ list as they face the Saints at RSEA Park this Saturday.
