Norwood will play Glenelg in the SANFL Grand Final for the first time in 42 years. 

Not since the 1982 Grand Final – where Norwood lifted the Premiership Cup by 62 points – have the Redlegs and Tigers faced off in the decider despite the two clubs combining for 19 Grand Final appearances since that day.

In 1982, Norwood secured its 26th SANFL Premiership. On Sunday, the Redlegs will be aiming for their 32nd. Glenelg will be playing for back to back premierships, and its seventh in total.

Norwood or Glenelg have appeared in five of the last six Grand Finals, with the Tigers most recently winning in 2023 and Norwood in 2022.

The 2024 Grand Final will take place at Adelaide Oval on Sunday, September 22 from 2:30pm.

The Redlegs and Tigers have had different routs to the big dance, with Norwood securing the Minor Premiership and enjoying the first week of the finals series on the sidelines.

In the Semi Final Norwood secured a 59-point win over Central District to progress through to the Grand Final.

Glenelg finished fourth and have had to suit up in every week of the SANFL finals series thus far, defeating Woodville-West Torrens by 71 points in the Elimination Final, Sturt by 31 points in the Semi Final, and eventually the Bulldogs by 38 points in Sunday’s Preliminary Final.

Head to head this season, the ledger sits 1-1 between the Redlegs and Bays, with Norwood claiming a 24-point win in Round 2, and Glenelg returning serve with a 34-point win in Round 16.

Both sides won the fixture played at their home ground, but this Sunday it will be a neutral venue of Adelaide Oval.

Norwood’s Reserves will also be represented in the Reserves Grand Final at Adelaide Oval on Sunday morning, from 11am. The Redlegs take on Sturt.

Like the League side, Norwood finished Minor Premiers in 2024, but went down to the Double Blues by 67 points in the Semi Final, before responding with a 48-point win over Glenelg in Saturday’s Preliminary Final.
