Texas Updates Quinn Ewers’ Status After Arch Manning’s First Start
The Texas Longhorns may be without starting quarterback Quinn Ewers once again. Ewers had to leave the Longhorns’ Week 3 game against UTSA due to a strained oblique.
Arch Manning replaced Ewers and had an impressive performance. Manning completed 9-of-12 passes for 223 yards and threw four touchdowns. He also scored a 67-yard touchdown run. Following Ewers’ absence in the last weekend’s game, Manning made his first career start.
The game started off roughly for Manning as he threw an interception on the first drive. However, he settled in and finished 15-of-29 for 258 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. Now, Manning could be getting ready for his second career start in Texas’ first SEC game.
Head coach Steve Sarkisian updated Ewers’ status for the game. Sarkisian revealed that Ewers practiced on Monday. He said if he had to put a report out, Ewers would be listed as questionable for Saturday.
Sarkisian previously listed Ewers as week-to-week with his injury. If Ewers does not play this weekend, he will have a BYE week before facing back-to-back ranked opponents, the Oklahoma Sooners and the Georgia Bulldogs.
With this being a conference game, availability reports should be out on Wednesday with Ewers’ official designation. Then, only time will tell if Manning will make his second career start.
