Will Qua Russaw play against Georgia? Alabama updates status of star LB, others

Alabama Football provided its first availability report of the 2024 season as set by the SEC’s parameters, which provided much anticipated updates on the injury statuses of Qua Russaw, Malachi Moore, and others.

Alabama Football saw three players go down with injuries against Wisconsin, and their statuses have been in question heading into Saturday night’s showdown with No. 2 ranked Georgia in Tuscaloosa.

For the first time, the SEC has mandated availability reports be released every Wednesday by its member schools ahead of conference games. Reports will be updated every day with a final report being issued no later than 90-minutes prior to kickoff.

Alabama’s initial availability report for the week was released Wednesday night, and it was good news for Tide fans.

Neither senior safety Malachi Moore nor sophomore WR Cole Adams were listed on the availability report, meaning both are good to go for Saturday night. Moore was in the concussion protocol following the Wisconsin game, but Kalen DeBoer stated on Monday that Moore had returned to practice late last week.

Adams suffered an arm injury against USF, and seems to have recovered well enough to see game action after missing the Wisconsin game.

Three players were listed on Alabama’s availability report, and all three were listed as “probable.”

Most notably, starting LB Qua Russaw is one of those. DeBoer also updated his status on Monday, and while he said he was optimistic, Russaw being listed as probable all but confirms that he will be ready to play Saturday night.

Third-string RB Richard Young and reserve LB Jeremiah Alexander were also listed as probable. Alexander suffered an injury in fall camp and could be in line to make his season debut against the Bulldogs, giving Kane Wommack’s defense an extra injection of depth.

Like all SEC teams, Georgia also released their availability report. The Bulldogs list WR London Humphreys, RB Roderick Robinson II, and OG Tate Ratledge as “out” for Saturday’s game. DL Mykel Williams, DL Jordan Hall, and WR Sacovie White are all lised as “questionable”, and DL Warren Brinson is listed as “probable.”
