Who won Australia vs. England netball series? Score, result of final game in Test series between Diamonds and Roses

Australia and England headed into a mouthwatering decider in their three-match series at Bendigo Stadium on Wednesday.

The Roses claimed a stirring 61-59 victory in Sydney on Sunday — their first win over the Diamonds on home soil since stunning them in the gold medal match at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

It amounted to a remarkable turnaround after Australia racked up a dominant 70-57 victory in the first Test in Adelaide.

The stage was set for a winner-takes-all clash in Victoria. Here’s how it all went down.

Who won the Australia vs. England netball series: Diamonds bounce back with huge third Test win

Ultimately the world champions would not be denied as they ran out 69-56 winners before a raucous crowd at Bendigo Stadium.

The Diamonds stymied any England momentum from the second Test as they outscored their rivals in all four quarters. The writing was on the wall for the Roses as they nursed a 30-24 halftime deficit and there was no way back for Jess Thirlby’s side.

It meant a continuation of Australia’s incredible record of never having lost a series decider in international netball history.

Australia goal attack Kiera Austin was rewarded for her performance, scooping both the player of the match and player of the series awards.

Both teams now face series against the other giants of the global game, New Zealand. It’s a quick turnaround for England, who face the Silver Ferns in the first of three matches this Sunday (September 29).
