Warrington Wolves and England star Danny Walker comments on NRL links
Warrington Wolves hooker Danny Walker has reportedly been subject to a six-figure bid from NRL side Canberra Raiders and he’s now given his verdict, explaining he is “not sure” where talks are at the minute.
That was reported by Dave Craven for The Daily Mirror with the 26-year-old Warrington Wolves man opening up on his NRL aspirations following reports that Canberra Raiders were interested in his servives.
Reports of the Raiders’ interest in Walker first emerged about a fortnight ago with Yorkshire Live revealing a six-figure offer had been made, something that Warrington Wolves had turned down.
A week down the line and local paper down under, The Canberra Times, reported that the Raiders were unwilling to go above their initial offer with the report describing Warrington’s demands as “ridiculous”.
Since then, Danny Walker has now been named in the Super League Dream Team and at that launch event, the 26-year-old was asked by The Mirror if his head would be turned should Canberra launch another bid.
Walker told The Daily Mirror: “That’s the conversation I’d have to have with the club: with Warrington. I’ve always been honest with the club when it first came about and told them I’d always had that aspiration to play NRL. And that’s not changed.”
