Deion Sanders gives in to Dallas Cowboys rumors and would leave Colorado for one reason only
He can deny it as often and as vigorously as he likes, but Deion Sanders continues to be linked to the NFL and a head coaching gig in the league following his success at the University of Colorado.
At 8-2, Colorado is regarded as having a good chance to win the Big 12 Conference championship and having an outside shot at reaching the new 12-team College Football Playoff. Coach Prime and his son, quarterback Shedeur Sanders, are on the verge of leaving an indelible legacy at Colorado — the Buffaloes have reached 10 wins once since 2002, and last won a share of the national championship in 1990. But what comes next has everyone’s tongues wagging, as Deion reportedly remains a target — however remote — for the Dallas Cowboys in 2025.
According to one report, the one way Deion would leave the program he is buidling at Colorado would be if an NFL team that he approves were to select Shedeur in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft next April. And given how things have been going lately for the Cowboys…Dallas might be in with a chance to snag both Sanders.
The Cowboys’ “tank” may be unintentional, but it is going well — at 3-7, Dallas would select ninth in the 2025 draft if it were held today. But the Raiders seem to be in a better position to recruit Sanders and son…if Deion and Shedeur want to swap Boulder for Las Vegas.
In the midst of another dismal season, the 2-8 Raiders currently are projected to pick fifth overall in the draft — which could be the outer limit of Shedeur’s draft range, given how many teams are willing to “reach” for a franchise signal-caller. Vegas could move on from first-year head coach Antonio Pierce if the losses continue to stack up, and Tom Brady’s position as a minority stakeholder in the franchise has been widely viewed as the key to the Raiders’ search for a long-term answer under center.
