Gamecocks welcome another New commit, He is the 10th transfer commit for the Gamecocks for the 2025 season.

South Carolina has added a veteran running back out of the transfer portal. After losing starter Rocket Sanders — who rushed for 881 yards and 11 touchdowns this season — and Juju McDowell to graduation, the Gamecocks were left with just a trio of scholarship tailbacks: Oscar Adaway, Jawarn Howell and Matthew Fuller.

But on Tuesday, according to 247 Sports’ Matt Zenitz, South Carolina picked up a commitment from Utah State transfer Rahsul Faison — who was a second-team All-Mountain West running back this year after rushing for 1,109 yards and eight scores.

Faison visited USC this week. He is the 10th transfer commit for the Gamecocks for the 2025 season.

Faison wasn’t expected to play college football in 2025 but he was a beneficiary from the NCAA waiver for junior college players created following Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia’s lawasuit over eligibility limits. Faison initially announced he was entering the NFL Draft, but then changed course once it was clear he’d be afforded another season of college football. In the wake of the Pavia’a court victory, Faison posted on X: “Is this real????

The fact will be playing in the SEC next season is remarkable. He began his college career in 2020 at Lackawanna College, then went to Marshall in 2021, then transferred west to Snow College in Utah before heading to Utah State in 2023. But it was his 1,000-yard season that got folks attention. After hitting the portal, Faison took visits to, at least, Florida State, Alabama, North Carolina and South Carolina before choosing the Gamecocks.
