Texas Longhorns Coach Steve Sarkisian Discusses ‘Awesome Addition’ of Neal Brown

In a significant move aimed at bolstering the Texas Longhorns’ football program, Head Coach Steve Sarkisian has brought on former West Virginia Head Coach Neal Brown as a special assistant. His tenure at West Virginia concluded with a 6-6 record in the 2024 season, after which he was relieved of his duties. Prior to his time at West Virginia, Brown held the head coaching position at Troy University, where he achieved notable success, including a Sun Belt Championship in 2017.

Sarkisian’s Perspective

Coach Sarkisian has expressed enthusiasm about Brown’s addition to the staff, highlighting the value of having another seasoned coach to provide insights. “Neal has been an awesome addition,” Sarkisian stated. “When you can have an extra set of head coach eyes, it’s always helpful because they’re always looking for the things that, from a head coach’s perspective, are important to you. You can’t see it all the time, and he’s done a great job with that.”
