West Brom have agreed a deal to sign Norwegian forward Aune Heggebø from Brann.
As first reported by Nettavisen and seconded by Fabrizio Romano, the Baggies are closing in on a move for the 23-year-old after a deal of €5.5 million (£4.75 million) was accepted by the Eliteserien side.
The Midlands outfit are looking to bolster Ryan Mason’s side ahead of the Championship campaign getting underway next month.
Heggebø has come through the ranks at Brann, and he has contributed seven goals from 13 appearances so far this season in Norway’s top flight.

West Brom reach £4.75m agreement for striker Aune Heggebø
West Brom have had a bid worth £4.75 million accepted by Brann for Heggebø, as first claimed by Nettavisen, which should lead the way to their latest summer signing.
Mason is looking to bolster the team’s forward options, and the 23-year-old is set to become that addition after negotiations with the top flight club.
The forward will now need to agree terms with the Baggies and complete a medical before having his switch to English football confirmed, in what will be somewhat of a statement signing for Albion.
West Brom have Daryl Dike and Josh Maja as options to lead the line already, but injury issues have impacted both players in recent seasons.
Both forward options are also coming into the final 12 months of their current contracts, which has led to some uncertainty over their futures.
Heggebø has scored 17 goals from 62 league appearances in Norway’s top flight in his career so far, playing a key role in 2024 as Brann came second in the Eliteserien last season.
West Brom have completed one transfer already this summer, bringing Nat Phillips to the club from Liverpool on a permanent basis.
Mason will be keen to make his mark on the squad after arriving as manager in the summer, with the defender arriving in a deal worth a reported £3 million.
This will be the 34-year-old’s first role as the main manager in his career, having previously worked as a coach at Tottenham Hotspur.
Heggebø signing continues West Brom’s recruitment approach
West Brom have signed a number of players out of left-field since the change of ownership in January 2024.
Last summer saw them bring in Torbjorn Heggem from Swedish side IF Brommapojkarna, as well as Ousmane Diakité and Isaac Price from Austria and Belgium respectively.
While Phillips will bring experience of English football with him, Heggebø is more of a gamble, and may need time to settle – although he should be ready to go having played competitive football since early 2025 and having had no summer break.
The Baggies are spending a decent fee on him though, so will want him to make an impact in the first-team sooner rather than later – he should provide great competition for Josh Maja and Dike though, should both players remain at the club.
