Out-of-contract Sheffield Wednesday ace set to depart as uncertainty continues under Chansiri
One Sheffield Wednesday player looks likely to leave amid the current concerns under Dejphon Chansiri as a move to Turkey awaits.
Sheffield Wednesday have undergone a torrid summer so far, with a catalogue of issues springing up in the reign of Dejphon Chansiri.
Staff have no indication of when they will be paid the money they are owed, whilst Danny Rohl continues to not take part in Sheffield Wednesday’s pre-season as he looks to orchestrate a departure from S6.
However, one of the main concerns for Sheffield Wednesday lies with the players not being paid, with a selection of first-teamers handing in their notice to the club.
The future of several players is in doubt, and it now looks like one man is set to leave the club as a move to Turkey now looks likely.

Sheffield Wednesday set to lose Mallik Wilks in move to Turkey
Ahead of the 2025/26 Championship season, it is expected that Sheffield Wednesday could lose several players in the first team, and it now looks as though the dominoes are starting to fall.
Per reputable Turkish journalist Reşat Can Özbudak, Sheffield Wednesday winger Mallik Wilks is set to join Istanbul-based side Pendikspor.
Wilks played last season on loan at Rotherham United after it was made clear that he had no future at Sheffield Wednesday under Danny Rohl.
The 26-year-old’s contract at the club expired this summer, giving him the freedom to move elsewhere.
Playing alongside Wilks at the New York Stadium was Jonson Clarke-Harris, who also looks set to join the Turkish side after the pair were spotted in Istanbul.

Mallik Wilks’ future at Hillsborough was never likely to be resolved
Because of the current circumstances that Sheffield Wednesday find themselves in, with there being no ability to bring players in, it would be expected that Chansiri would work tirelessly to keep as many of the current crop as possible.
But unfortunately, Wilks’ time at Sheffield Wednesday simply has not worked out. Between struggling with injuries and stringing games together, it would make more sense for Wilks’ career for him to start on a clean slate.
He would have been a decent option for Sheffield Wednesday in attack this season, especially in the situation they find themselves in. Wilks bagged nine goals, and notched four assists in League One last season, which are fairly respectable numbers from the attacker.
Unfortunately, convincing him to remain at Hillsborough in the current situation would always be an uphill struggle for the club.
Finance expert names the ‘smartest thing’ Dejphon Chansiri has done as Sheffield Wednesday owner
Dejphon Chansiri has been the owner of Sheffield Wednesday for many years and the club, especially in 2025, have largely struggled.
The financial situation at Sheffield Wednesday seems to be getting worse with each passing week.
The latest problems began to pick up at the end of the 2024/25 season when wages were going unpaid.
Fast forward to July, and Sheffield Wednesday face three embargoes by the EFL for various reasons, including wages and failure to pay clubs like Southampton for the Shea Charles deal.
Dejphon Chansiri has been slammed for his running of the club, including by journalist Henry Winter, who recently wrote, ‘Every day Dejphon Chansiri remains at Sheffield Wednesday, a famous old club gets dragged further and further down. The shambles has become a scandal.’
Now, the ‘smartest thing’, perhaps the only thing, he has done since taking over the Yorkshire club has been highlighted.
The ‘smartest thing’ Dejphon Chansiri has done at Sheffield Wednesday
Kieran Maguire shared an update on what Sheffield Wednesday sources are saying about Barry Bannan reports earlier this week.
The finance expert has also provided data to explain the Owls and Hull City’s current transfer embargo problems.
Now, Maguire has once again been discussing the Yorkshire club’s current owner when speaking to Benjamin Bloom this week.
He was speaking on the cost of sacking managers, and when discussing compensation, named the ‘smartest thing’ the Thai businessman has done.
Maguire said: “If the manager is good then, and we saw when Graham Potter went from Swansea to Brighton, I think there was £2m compensation, when Steve Bruce went from Sheffield Wednesday to Newcastle, which is probably the smartest thing that Dejphon Chansiri has done in his reign, admittedly, possibly there’s not a lot of competition.”
