Norwich City look set to make a major investment this summer as they edge closer to securing the signature of Danish forward Mathias Kvistgaarden.
The 23-year-old netted 23 times for Brøndby last season and has attracted interest from across Europe, with RC Lens and Eintracht Frankfurt monitoring his situation.
However, it now appears the Canaries have won the race, with Danish outlet Tipsbladet reporting that Kvistgaarden is on his way to England for a medical ahead of a move to Carrow Road.
If completed, the deal – thought to be worth around £11 million – could represent a real statement of intent from Liam Manning’s side as they prepare for another tilt at the Championship play-offs.
With Sargent strongly linked with a move away and several key additions already made this window, Kvistgaarden’s arrival could be a pivotal moment in the Canaries’ rebuild.
Norwich City reaction to Kvistgaarden transfer and Sargent exit talk
Josh Sargent for Norwich City
Football League World spoke with resident Canaries fan pundit Zeke Downes for his view on Kvistgaarden’s imminent move, including whether the Dane’s arrival signals a likely exit for Josh Sargent.
“It’s a really interesting transfer because it’s a lot of money and it would be our record, I think,” Downes told FLW.
“And it seems like he has chosen us over a lot of other clubs, and clubs that are bigger clubs and have top flight prowess, I guess, and we’re obviously in the Championship.”

“So, it’s a good sign that he wants to choose us and it is a lot of money – so we’ve obviously got the money to spend, I imagine it will mean that Sargent will leave,
“But also it might not, because Sargent does get injuries and we need someone else there to take up those minutes, and you don’t know if [Ante] Crnac is going to be the guy that can do that.
“So either way, I think we will need a striker even if Sargent stays, but yeah – it’s one that’s really interesting and it is an exciting thing.”

Kvistgaarden’s arrival would underline Norwich’s intent to reshape and strengthen ahead of the new campaign.
Whether as a direct replacement for Sargent or as another option to share the load, the Danish forward brings proven goalscoring quality and clear potential.
With a deal reportedly nearing completion, attention now turns to how quickly Kvistgaarden can adapt to the pace and physicality of the Championship.
If he hits the ground running, Norwich may finally have the cutting edge they’ve been missing – and a real shot at promotion once again.
