A Sheffield Wednesday transfer update has been shared, with a deal now close to being completed.

Sheffield Wednesday have a triple transfer embargo following their ongoing financial problems.

It means signings at Hillsborough this summer are very unlikely, with the club only able to offer wages up to £7,000.

As a result, the focus so far has largely been on which stars are going to be leaving the club this summer.

Sheffield Wednesday will lose Mallik Wilks after his contract expired, with a move to Turkey now on the cards.

Meanwhile, another talent is now expected to secure a move to a Premier League side in the current transfer window.

Sheffield Wednesday transfer update

It was reported last week that Manchester City want to sign Romario Collins from the Owls.

This update came after it had already been shared that rising star Caelan-Kole Cadamarteri was set to link up with the Sky Blues this summer.

Now, journalist Fabrizio Romano has shared an update on Man City’s pursuit of Collins this week.

And he’s now reporting that the Manchester outfit have agreed terms with the young Sheffield Wednesday talent.

Taking to X/Twitter, he wrote: “Manchester City Academy recruitment drives continues as #MCFC agreed terms with highly rated U15 talent Romario Collins from Sheffield Wednesday. Deal in place as BBC reported, follows up on from recent signing of Caelan Cadametri with City really pushing for top talents.

Sheffield Wednesday compensation for Romario Collins

As well as the two stars set to join Pep Guardiola’s squad, another young player will leave the Owls soon.

Sutura Kakay is departing, with Sheffield Wednesday ‘locked in negotiations’ with Southampton for compensation.

The exact figures Wednesday will be due in compensation for each player is not known.

However, a six-figure compensation fee for Collins has been mooted recently.

Meanwhile, the Owls will reportedly net somewhere in the region of £2m for all three of the aforementioned players.

Sheffield Wednesday fans are surely worried as Owls ace posts cryptic social media message amid club crisis

Sheffield Wednesday’s current crisis could get worse if one Owls player leaves. The cryptic message he has posted on social media could suggest that his future is in doubt.

The desperate summer for Sheffield Wednesday has continued, with Dejphon Chansiri still not having the funds to pay players and staff.

To make matters worse, Danny Rohl has still not returned to Sheffield Wednesday as he continues to forge an exit from S6.

A selection of players have not received wages for two months in a row, leaving some with the option to hand in a 15-day notice.

Sheffield Wednesday have not disclosed which players have been paid their wages, but an indicator may have been given by one Owls star about his future at the club.

Sheffield Wednesday fans may be concerned as Bailey Cadamarteri posts cryptic Owls photo on social media

There could be an emphasis on keeping the younger ranks in the squad this summer as Sheffield Wednesday’s coaches attempt to formulate a team ahead of the 2025/26 Championship season.

Unfortunately, one player who could potentially find himself on his way out, based on his recent social media activity, is Bailey Cadamarteri, who posted a black-and-white photo on Instagram of him playing for Sheffield Wednesday in the 2023/24 season.

Whilst it is merely speculative that this is a sign towards Cadamarteri’s future at Sheffield Wednesday, it would make sense for the young forward not to be prioritised in terms of wages.

What Danny Rohl promised Bailey Cadamarteri last season

With pre-season camp at St George’s Park approaching, it would be hoped that Sheffield Wednesday would have their managerial situation sorted, but that is not the case.

Danny Rohl will not be coming back for it, meaning that one promise he left Bailey Cadamarteri is now up in the air.

It was a surprising decision when Sheffield Wednesday loaned out Cadamarteri after his breakthrough 2023/24 season, and despite a rather difficult period at Lincoln City where he was hit with injuries, he had the assurance of claiming the striker spot again in the upcoming campaign.

Per The Star, Rohl said last season: “This is football, it’s important that the players are fit for when preseason starts, and then they have a new chance to show where they are.”

Unfortunately, because of Rohl’s voluntary exile and the current situation at the club, this chance may have been taken away from Cadamarteri, who has potentially been sold a false idea ahead of the new season.
