Bournemouth ramping up efforts to sign Djordje Petrovic
Bournemouth will reportedly look to sign 25-year-old Serbian international Djordje Petrovic from Chelsea in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Football Insider, Djordje Petrovic is the subject of interest from AFC Bournemouth. The Cherries are keen on reinforcing their first-team squad by signing a goalkeeper in the summer transfer window. So, the 25-year-old Chelsea shot-stopper has emerged as a target for the Premier League club.
The Blues have “given the green light” to the 1999-born Serb ahead of a summer exit, with Bournemouth ramping up the efforts to secure his services in the summer transfer window. Meanwhile, Chelsea will demand around £20 million to part ways with Petrovic this summer.
Djordje Petrovic and his frustrating Chelsea stint
Djordje Petrovic has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining Chelsea from the New England Revolution in August 2023. The West London club’s infamous hoarding policy has blighted the 25-year-old goalkeeper’s career, as he has been one of over half a dozen goalkeepers to move to Stamford Bridge in the last three years.
The 25-year-old was in and out of the starting lineup in his debut season with Chelsea before the Premier League outfit loaned him to sister club RC Strasbourg last summer. Petrovic made his mark in Ligue 1, keeping ten clean sheets in 31 French outings. Meanwhile, the Serbian international has piqued the attention of several clubs with his exploits in Ligue 1, with Bournemouth vying for his signature in the summer transfer window.
Move across the Premier League on the cards?
Bournemouth’s interest in Djordje Petrovic makes sense. The Cherries are scouring the market for a goalkeeper this summer after failing to seal a permanent move for Kepa Arrizabalaga. The former Chelsea shot-stopper has joined Arsenal in a bargain deal, leaving Bournemouth to comb the market for a new keeper.
While Neto has returned to the Vitality Stadium after his loan spell with Arsenal, Mark Travers will likely leave Bournemouth amid his links with Everton. So, several candidates have emerged on Bournemouth’s radar, with Petrovic also a viable target. The Cherries are intensifying their efforts to secure the 1999-born Serb’s services in the summer transfer window.
Meanwhile, Chelsea will demand around £20 million to part ways with the 25-year-old Serbian international in the summer transfer window. However, it is unclear if Bournemouth will fork out £20 million to sign Petrovic from Chelsea in the coming weeks.
“Already accepted to join” – Fabrizio Romano provides new update on €30m Chelsea transfer saga
Bournemouth are confident of completing a deal to sign Djordje Petrovic from Chelsea according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
Petrovic joined Chelsea from MLS side New England Revolution for £14m in the summer of 2023, but it appears he’s set to leave the club.
The 25-year-old excelled on loan at Strasbourg last season as they qualified for the Conference League, and was named their Player of the Season.
Bournemouth confident of completing Petrovic deal
Petrovic was expected to challenge for the number one shirt next season, but he was left out of the squad for the Club World Cup.
It’s believed Chelsea have a gentleman’s agreement with Petrovic that he can leave for £25m this summer, and he’s not short of suitors.
It had been reported Petrovic was close to joining Sunderland, but those reports appear to be wide of the mark, although he looks set to join another Premier League club.

Bournemouth are in the market for a new keeper having had Kepa Arrizabalaga on loan from Chelsea last season, and have identified Petrovic as the man they want.
The Cherries submitted an offer for the Serb on Wednesday and Romano has now provided an update on the situation.
He took to X.com and said:
“After official bid sent on Wednesday as revealed, Bournemouth are confident to get Djordje Petrović deal done.
“Understand Petrović has already accepted to join #AFCB.
“Final green light from Chelsea, expected soon.”
