West Ham ‘caught cold again’ as McAtee to Nottingham Forest details emerge
James McAtee is a target for West Ham this summer.
The Man City starlet is seen as one of England’s best prospects and has already made 34 first-team appearances for Pep Guardiola’s side.
This summer, the 22-year-old has enjoyed further success since the end of the 2024/25 campaign as he captained England Under 21s to the European Championship title.
As a result, speculation is rife over his future, with West Ham interested in McAtee ahead of the new season.
However, it now appears that Graham Potter
is facing competition for his signature.

Nottingham Forest ‘expected’ to bid for McAtee
Elsewhere in the Premier League, Nottingham Forest are facing a dismantling after their successful 2024/25 campaign.
As well as Anthony Elanga, Morgan Gibbs-White appears to be on his way out, with Tottenham closing in on the England international.
Therefore, a replacement would be needed, with The Telegraph (10 July) expecting Forest to make an offer for McAtee.
Both Man City and the East Midlands club are in contact with each other, and while an offer is yet to be submitted, “one is anticipated”.
West Ham are also said to be keen, with Potter chasing a potential replacement for Mohammed Kudus.
However, Bundesliga clubs Borussia Dortmund and Eintracht Frankfurt and Serie A outfits Fiorentina and Roma also interested.

West Ham set to miss out on yet another target
So far this summer, it has been a running trend for West Ham to miss out on their targets.
Thierno Barry recently signed for Everton, in what was another big blow for Potter.
Now, it appears that the Hammers will be caught out again, with Forest ahead of the London club in the race for McAtee.

With West Ham now having the money from Kudus’ move, this is simply unacceptable, especially with the attacker being a top talent.
Hopefully, Potter will step up his interest in McAtee in the coming weeks to ensure the Man City star moves to the London Stadium this summer.
‘Summerville to benefit the most’ as West Ham exit now confirmed
Crysencio Summerville has had a troubled time at West Ham United so far.
So far this summer, there is an air of pessimism lingering around the London Stadium, and for good reason, heading into the new Premier League campaign.
The Irons have been sitting with their hands tied behind their back in the transfer market, while other Premier League sides have been attacking it with ambition.
Instead of bringing new talent to West Ham, most of the focus has been on players leaving, though that could now serve as a benefit for Summerville, who has flattered to deceive since his arrival from Leeds United in the previous summer.

Mohammed Kudus exit could light a fire in Summerville’s belly
Late on Thursday evening (10 July), it was confirmed that Mohammed Kudus had left West Ham to join Spurs in a deal worth around £55million, while also becoming the first player to make the switch since Scott Parker back in 2011.
Kudus never really lived up to full expectation, though his exit will now leave a huge hole in the West Ham attack when it comes to creativity, unless others can step forward.
That will only serve as motivation for Summerville, who is yet to showcase his ability to play at the highest level.
West Ham will replace Kudus, but whoever does arrive will need time to adjust, which may allow Summerville a chance to redeem himself under Graham Potter and stake a claim for his place in the side going forward.
The Dutchman has undeniable quality, hence why he was brought to the club by Tim Steidten, and now si the time for him to truly showcase what he can offer.

Potter needs to see transfer movement now
With a healthy sum of money now added to the bank, West Ham have no excuses not to be attacking the transfer window with the intent of bolstering their squad.
Several arrivals are needed in the coming weeks if the Irons are to have any chance of putting the failures of the last campaign behind them.
