Wrexham have identified a former Premier League and Scottish star to join this summer, and Ryan Reynolds will have the upper hand to bring him in for one clear reason.

Wrexham boss Phil Parkinson is keen to add to his troops ahead of the challenging 2025/26 Championship season.

The Red Dragons have already brought in two players, with Ryan Hardie joining from Plymouth Argyle, whilst Danny Ward returned to Wrexham, the club he came through the youth ranks at.

As previously confirmed by Wrexham Insider, we noted that Wrexham have a chance of signing Stuart Armstrong this summer after he was released by Sheffield Wednesday.

Wrexham’s interest has continued, however, Alan Nixon on Patreon has suggested that Sheffield Wednesday are looking towards a reunion with the midfielder, only weeks after his stay at the club officially came to an end.

Sheffield Wednesday look set to offer Armstrong a chance to return to the club, where he will be under the assurance that his game time will be more significant in his second spell for Danny Rohl’s side.

Former Southampton star Armstrong has notched Premier League and Championship experience in his career, whilst also previously playing Champions League football, where he featured against Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, and Bayern Munich.
