21-goal/help After turning down two huge offers from Crystal Palace, the wing sensation has finally traveled to West Brom for a physical. This morning, he will sign a four-year contract with West Brom.

West Brom launch move for 21-goal/assist wing star

West Brom have made a bid for Jeonbuk Hyundai winger Jeon Jin-woo, according to reports in South Korea.

West Brom are building for a new chapter under Ryan Mason after appointing him earlier this summer. WBA brought him in from Spurs as the permanent replacement for Tony Mowbray.

After Mowbray’s second Baggies stint didn’t have the intended impact, Mason is the man tasked with taking the West Midlands outfit back towards the top end of the Championship and, hopefully, the Premier League.

Early business has been promising, but more signings and a must, and it seems the hierarchy at The Hawthorns are more than aware of this.

Now, writing on X, Korean reporter Joel Kim has relayed information from compatriot and reputable journalist Seol Ho-jung stating that West Brom have launched a bid for Jeonbuk Hyundai winger Jeon Jin-woo.

It is said that the offer comes in at over €1.33m, which translates to around £1.15m. Jeonbuk’s need for a replacement could complicate the move, as could the five other clubs said to be interested.

In addition, it is speculated that WBA boss Mason may have been recommended to eye Jin-woo by Son Heung-min, whom he has a close relationship with from his time at Spurs.

Who is Jeon Jin-woo?

West Brom fans may not have been all too familiar with Jin-woo until these links emerged, but he looks to be an exciting target for the Championship club this summer.

The 25-year-old first made a name for himself in the Suwon Bluewings setup, progressing through their youth ranks before making a senior breakthrough. He managed 13 goals and 14 assists in 120 games for the club but has hit a new level at Jeonbuk Hyundia.

The rumoured WBA target has 19 goals and six assists in 40 games for the side, with 16 goals and five assists coming in the 2025 campaign.

Jin-woo is also a newly-capped South Korea international, debuting in June and registering a goal and an assist in his first two games.

West Brom have been fending off interest in Tom Fellows for some time and it could be that they cash in this summer. If they do, Jin-woo may well be the ready-made replacement.

Though not offering as much creative threat as Fellows, he makes up for that with his scoring. He too is at his best operating on the right, but can play on the left-hand side if required.

The Baggies could be holding onto hope of keeping Fellows, but if he is tempted away, Jin-woo could be a fine heir.

Danny Rohl, Sheffield Wednesday twist emerges as “clear the air” talks revealed

Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl is believed to have held a meeting with playing and coaching staff to “clear the air” after a summer of uncertainty regarding his Owls future.

The German coach was believed to be making an exit from Yorkshire this summer after two seasons at the club, which resulted in Rohl helping them survive in the Championship and then securing a 12th-placed finish last term.

Rohl had previously admitted back at the start of June in an interview with the German newspaper Bild that he wanted a return to the Bundesliga “as quick as possible”.

Throughout the summer, Rohl was linked with jobs at RB Leipzig, Wolfsburg and Werder Bremen, as well as the Leicester City, Middlesbrough and Southampton vacancies, but none of those have led to a move, leaving the ex-Bayern Munich coach without an exit route from South Yorkshire.

And in a dramatic turn of events, the 36-year-old has returned to Wednesday to lead preparations for the upcoming 2025-26 term, which has caused a split in opinion among the fanbase.

Now, Rohl is aiming to carry on as normal, looking to bring about unity again between the players and staff, so the club can look forward to next season, regardless of the financial issues off the pitch.

As reported by The Star, Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl held “clear the air” talks on his return to Middlewood Road.

There had been previous reports of unrest within the playing squad due to Rohl’s return, but he has sought to undo this so that everyone moves forward on the right page.

The meeting is believed to have been undertaken between players, staff and one observing senior club figure, and while the finer details of what was discussed are not immediately clear, it’s understood that a frank exchange of views was aired.

The Owls had recently undergone a training programme at St George’s Park under assistant coach Henrik Pedersen, in which they played out a behind-closed-doors run-out against a Manchester City under-23s side. Wednesday are expected to welcome Mansfield Town for a behind-closed-doors game at Hillsborough on July 26, although no other friendlies have been arranged as of yet.

Danny Rohl is making a smart decision to hold a frank meeting with the coaching and playing staff about the way the summer unfolded.

Ultimately, Rohl looks silly for not earning a move away from Hillsborough after telling media outlets how keen he was to do so, but he’s now facing the music, which will at least earn respect from others inside the building.
