The future of several Manchester City stars remains unresolved.

James McAtee is one of those who is expected to depart the Etihad Stadium, despite coming off the back of his best season in Manchester, as the Englishman wants to play regularly. Hence, the 22-year-old chose to play for England U21s this summer rather than travel to the FIFA Club World Cup.

The main focus of Man City at present is the sale of McAtee, as the midfielder has plenty of interest in him, which makes it easier for the English giants, unlike many of the Manchester club’s other unwanted stars.

Nottingham Forest are one club interested in McAtee, and the Premier League side have now made their plan to sign the Man City star clear.

Nottingham Forest want to sign James McAtee regardless

Nottingham Forest have a lot of competition on their hands to sign McAtee this summer, and if they want to secure the Man City star’s signature, it would be smart to make a move soon.

Morgan Gibbs-White seems to be Forest’s main focus at the moment after the Premier League club complained about Tottenham’s transfer for the English star.

The Daily Mail is reporting that even if Nottingham Forest don’t part ways with Gibbs-White, the club still wants to sign McAtee regardless.

The Nottingham side remain poised to make an offer; however, they are reluctant to go above £25m plus add-ons for the England Under-21s captain as Man City seek £40m for McAtee’s sale.

This hesitancy will likely see the Premier League club miss out on the midfielder, as the German clubs in the race continue to try and convince the 22-year-old to move to the Bundesliga.

James McAtee to visit Borussia Dortmund

McAtee will visit Eintracht Frankfurt this week, as the Englishman wants to hear the German club’s plan for him should the midfielder opt to move to Deutsche Bank Park.

The Daily Mail is now reporting that as part of that trip, the 22-year-old will also visit Borussia Dortmund, a club with a strong history of developing English talent.

McAtee will likely make a decision on his future after both visits, and the Bundesliga duo have a great chance of landing the Man City star due to their presence in this season’s Champions League.

That will be a big attraction for the English midfielder, but staying in the Premier League remains an option.

Manchester City have had a busy summer on the transfer front and it’s likely to get even busier in terms of both incomings and outgoings.

So far, Manchester City have signed Tijjani Reijnders, Rayan Cherki, Rayan Ait-Nouri and Marcus Bettinelli.

There have also been some departures, with Kevin De Bruyne, Kyle Walker, Yan Couto and Scott Carson all leaving the club permanently.

City are open to moving more players on and, according to Fabrizio Romano, one of those players is on the radar of Premier League and Bundesliga clubs.

The Athletic recently reported that more players could yet leave City, as the squad remains too big for Pep Guardiola.

O’Reilly, John Stones, Mateo Kovacic, Gundogan, Claudio Echeverri, Oscar Bobb and James McAtee have all been touted for potential exits.

Now, Romano has reported that O’Reilly is the subject of “strong interest” from Premier League and Bundesliga clubs.

The transfer insider also claimed that several of those clubs are prepared to offer O’Reilly regular first-team football, which is a priority for him.
