Sports News from Sky: Given their huge agreement with Bryan Mbeumo, Newcastle has just made it more difficult for Manchester United to get him. For Ineos, it’s now or never.

Man Utd transfers: Mini-Salah 'intrigued' by Old Trafford move as Newcastle lead race

Newcastle might be about to complicate Man Utd’s chances of signing Bryan Mbeumo, now or never for Ineos

Manchester United are about to be handed an ultimatum in the race to sign Bryan Mbeumo this summer.

Since the start of July, it has been Bryan Mbeumo and nothing else for Manchester United.

This has seen United in talks with Brentford for six weeks, with two bids already being rejected for the Cameroon international, the latest of which being valued at £62.5m.

Still, despite this, United remain confident of signing Mbeumo in time for the US tour, which the club are set to jet out for on Tuesday, leaving little time for the club to wrap everything up.

It might be that United repeat the summer 2015 when the club signed
Bastian Schweinsteiger and Morgan Schneiderlin, with both securing their moves in the morning before heading to the airport to fly with their new teammates to the USA.

However, United may have to wrap this transfer up sooner, or risk missing out altogether.

Newcastle accelerating Yoane Wissa transfer swoop

Everyone can see what Ineos are trying to do this summer by refusing to pay over the odds, but this tactic of playing the long game has proven to be a disaster.

United knew Brentford’s demands of £65m for weeks, however have waited so long to offer this much that the Bees have now seen the market moves elsewhere and upped their asking price to £70m total package.

United have the means to finalise the deal today, and the latest Newcastle United transfer news suggests that Ineos may need to do just that.

David Ornstein has tweeted to reveal that Newcastle are exploring a move to sign Mbeumo’s teammate Yoane Wissa this summer and while there has been no contact, it is expected soon.

Newcastle going for Wissa will complicate Mbeumo to United as Brentford have always maintained they only wanted to sell one of their star attackers this summer.

So considering how slow United have been, there could be real concern around Newcastle effectively complicating a deal for Mbeumo, with Brentford not needing to sell they might even up the price tag again.

Signing Bryan Mbeumo could be now or never for Manchester United

Since early July, Mbeumo’s desire to join United has been crystal clear, which makes it all the more embarrassing that we are six weeks into the saga.

So if Newcastle move fast for Wissa, United could be left with nothing to show and having wasted half of the summer chasing a player who might soon be off the table.

The pre-season tour begins on Saturday, and if Mbeumo is not going to be signed then Ineos might have to give up on this dream and sign an alternative or focus elsewhere because there are still a handful of positions which need to be strengthened.

Either way, it seems Mbeumo to United is in the end game, hopefully he is on the plane to New Jersey next week.

Man Utd and Ruben Amorim face ‘one issue’ in trying to sign £60m-rated Premier League talent, it ‘could prove decisive’

Manchester United and Ruben Amorim reportedly have one major roadblock they must clear to bring a Premier League attacking talent to Old Trafford this summer.

Ruben Amorim will be heading off for the pre-season tour with Manchester United this week, with the Red Devils beginning their campaign in Europe first.

United will face newly promoted Premier League club Leeds United on Saturday at the Strawberry Arena in Sweden, with kick-off slated for 2pm UK time.

Following the friendly match in Solna on 19th July, Amorim’s United side will travel to the States for three matches in the US leg of their pre-season tour this summer.
