Wrexham prepare £1.2m bid for League One captain
Wrexham are prepared to bid £1.2m for Bolton Wanderers captain George Thomason, according to The Bolton News.
Wrexham made it back-to-back-to-back promotions last season having finished 2nd place in League One. The Red Dragons must now prepare for life in the Championship, however, meaning reinforcements are crucial.
So far, only Ryan Hardie and Danny Ward have been recruited by Phil Parkinson, but George Thomason of Bolton Wanderers may well be next following the latest reports.

Marc Iles of The Bolton News has stated that Wrexham are keen on striking a deal for the Wanderers captain, and that a £1.2m offer is being readied by the second tier newcomers.
Thomason, 24, has made 169 appearances for Bolton Wanderers since signing for the club from Longridge Town in 2020 and was appointed captain last season by Ian Evatt, continuing to be a regular under Steven Schumacher following his appointment as boss.
Despite supposedly being happy at the ToughSheet Community Stadium, the opportunity to experience his first taste of Championship football might be enough to lure him away.
A shrewd addition
It is fair to say that Wrexham have a fairly ageing squad, though that is not to be knocked as their experienced players have been hugely contributed to their recent successes. Having said that, the Red Dragons could certainly benefit from an injection of youth and Thomason would provide that.
Although he is no longer a youth prospect, the 24-year-old would become the youngest central midfielder at the club and arrive at the Racecourse Ground with a point to prove in comparison to those who have already played at the level or higher.
Should their first offer be accepted, it would also present a deal that is great value for money.
With 110 third tier appearances to his name, now would be the perfect time for him to step up and prove himself at the next level.
What next for Wrexham?
Parkinson’s side certainly need more additions if they are to compete next season. Whilst Thomason would be a great start, business must now speed up.
Wrexham are reportedly in advanced talks with Ajax midfielder Sivert Mannsverk and are prepared to fork out £4m for his services.
They are also set to sign Empoli defender Liberto Cacace in a deal worth €2.5m, whilst Callum Brittain of Blackburn Rovers and Michael Smith, recently released from Sheffield Wednesday, have also been linked.
There are plenty of names being thrown into the hat, what matters now is that the Championship newcomers start getting these deals over the line ahead of the new campaign.
FOOTBALL – Fan backlash as Coventry City reveal ticket prices for 2025/26 season
COVENTRY City have received backlash from supporters after revealing the club’s ticket prices for the 2025/26 season.
The Sky Blues revealed their ticket prices for the upcoming campaign with new category A+ adult tickets priced at £45.
The seats are situated in the standard/family zone of the Coventry Building Society Arena.
This is an increase of £8 compared to last season’s category A ticket prices.
And the cheapest concession price for category A games has also increased by £8 from £32 to £40 for the category A+ matches.
Category A prices have risen by just £1 from £37 to £38 for adults and also from £32 to £33 for concessions.
Under-18 supporters have seen a £3 increase to their tickets from £25 to £28 for a category A match.
Junior Sky Blues fans (under-14s) will pay an extra £8 from £15 to £23 for category A matches. They will also be charged £30 for category A+ games.
The club have already sold a record 23,800 season tickets ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

A number of the club’s supporters have reacted to the news on social media platform X.
The majority of supporters have reacted angrily to the news and feel the ticket prices are too high.
Reacting to the ticket prices on X, That Cov Pod said: “This is an utter disgrace.”
Neil Littlewood added: “Vile pricing. We have lambasted other clubs doing this over the years, pricing the average fan out of the game. The fans will feel this when we go away too as clubs will retaliate. Please reconsider this.”
Ben said: Fleecing fans. Great idea. Can’t wait to be charged through nose for away games now. Thanks.”
Buswell said: “£45 is disgusting prices at this level.”
Lee T said: “That’s me not attending any games next season. At home at a push. I can afford it but £45 for a Cov match I can watch from home for free, I know what I’d prefer.”
Martin said: “These prices are too much for families to pay. I would urge that the owner urgently rethinks this tiering system and sets a price for all games.”
Nick Rogers said: “Shocking pricing. Fans that travel away will be treated with reciprocal outrageous pricing.”
However, some supporters see sense behind the new ticket prices due to the record number of season tickets already sold.
Benjamin Lipman said: “The pricing is interesting, a lot on here saying they won’t pay it, the problem now that you guys have is others will and have been paying it. One thing is every penny counts due to the CBS rent agreement, so sadly Doug’s doing his job. They are a little high for kids though IMO.”
Martin Coleman added: “Think people are missing the point here. He don’t care about the price of £45 because he’s already sold 24k season tickets so the ground will be pretty much 25/27k with away [supporters] anyway. This is just his supply and demand plan. People will still pay it. For me it’s wrong though.”
William Edwards said: “Don’t see the fuss to be honest. As fans we want better players, to get promoted money has to be supported by multiple avenues and this is one of them. Cost of running a club goes up just like bills in our life, remembering this is a business and Doug is trying to not let us go red.”
