Transfers, Edu, City Ground – everything that’s happened at Nottingham Forest so far this summer
Latest Nottingham Forest news as Nuno Espirito Santo’s Reds have had a busy summer so far ahead of 2025/26 season
Life is rarely dull at Nottingham Forest, and this summer is already proving to be no different.
From transfer sagas to contract announcements, City Ground updates to incomings and outgoings, it has all been going on Trentside. And we are only a matter of weeks into pre-season!
This always had the makings of being an important period for the Reds as Nuno Espirito Santo’s men aim to kick on again in 2025/26. Below, NottinghamshireLive takes a look at what has happened so far this summer.

Squad reshuffle
On the surface, it has been a relatively quiet start to the transfer window for Forest. To date, there hasn’t been a whole lot of movement – either in or out.
A few changes have been made to Nuno’s squad, though. Striker Igor Jesus and defender Jair Cunha have both been signed from Brazilian club Botafogo, while the Reds continue to target further additions.
Heading in the opposite direction, Harry Toffolo and Aston Villa loanee Alex Moreno said their farewells at the expiration of their deals. Andrew Omobamidele (Strasbourg) and Ramon Sosa (Palmeiras) have also moved on, while youngster Tyler Bindon has gone on loan to Sheffield United.

The most notable departure, however, is that of Anthony Elanga. The winger left for Newcastle United after two years in the Garibaldi.
It remains to be seen whether Morgan Gibbs-White will also be added to the exit list. The England international has been embroiled in a transfer saga amid interest from Tottenham Hotspur and a feeling from Forest that an illegal approach was made.
New contracts
Getting key figures tied down can be just as important for the Reds as any signings they may make this summer. They have been able to make some noteworthy inroads on that front – not the least of which concerned head coach Nuno.
The Portuguese had penned a two-and-a-half-year deal when he replaced Steve Cooper at the helm in December 2023. In June, it was announced he had agreed a new three-year contract to keep him at the club until 2028.
Willy Boly (2026), Neco Williams (2029) and Ola Aina (2028) have also penned fresh terms this summer. Forest will hope Callum Hudson-Odoi will soon follow suit as the winger has just 12 months remaining on his current deal.
