PSV are reportedly closing in on the signing of Sol Sidibe from Stoke City, with the midfielder having already agreed personal terms with the Dutch giants.

The 18-year-old, who is the son of popular former striker Mamady, has been highly-rated after coming through the ranks at the Bet365 Stadium, and he has gone on to make over 20 appearances for the Potters in all competitions.

However, given his talent, there has been plenty of speculation surrounding Sidibe’s future, with a host of clubs credited with an interest in the youngster, including Aston Villa and Lille.

But it appears Sidibe is set to move to the Netherlands, as French reporter Marc Mechenoua revealed via his account on Friday evening.

He explains that PSV are now expected to complete the signing of the teenager, with Sidibe having already agreed terms with the Dutch champions.

Whilst the clubs are yet to settle on a fee after ‘several’ offers from PSV, they are said to be close to Stoke’s valuation now, so it’s not expected to be a problem.

Championship 12 0 1
Carabao Cup 7 0 1
FA Cup 2 0 0

It’s unclear just how much that will be, but Stoke will hope for a decent sum for one of their prized assets from the academy, particularly as Sidibe still has two years to run on his contract.

This is a frustrating update for Stoke, as there would have been a hope that Sidibe could really make his mark on the starting XI next season.

The teenager made 13 appearances in all competitions for the Potters last season, but his campaign was cruelly cut short in January due to a back injury.

Obviously, when a club like PSV comes in for Sidibe, it’s going to be difficult for him to turn them down, especially as they will be in the Champions League this coming season having successfully defended their Eredivisie crown, and they have shown they will give game time to younger players.

For Stoke, it’s about getting the best possible deal, and then it’s about giving Potters boss Mark Robins the funds to strengthen the squad as they look to kick-on in his first full season in charge of the club.

The Staffordshire-based outfit have done some impressive early business, with Divin Mubama, Aaron Cresswell, Maksym Talovierov and Sorba Thomas all arriving at the club, but there are areas of the squad that still need addressing, and the fans will hope for more activity over the coming days and weeks.

Stoke start their season with a home game against Derby County on August 9.
