Premier League Club Set To Advance In Pursuit Of £35 Million Leicester City Star
Relegation to the Championship has left many Leicester City stars wanting out, especially when considering the looming points deduction. Danish international Mads Hermansen is a valuable asset who will likely want to depart, considering his age and interest elsewhere. The goalkeeper joined the Foxes under Enzo Maresca back in 2023 and helped the club to instant promotion. Despite a successful tenure in the East Midlands, this Leicester City transfer update suggests a move back to the Premier League could be on the cards.

Mads Hermansen: West Ham To Make Approach
As reported by both Alex Crook and Ben Jacobs, the Foxes are awaiting an approach for Hermansen from West Ham. The goalkeeper’s value stood at a lucrative £35 million last summer, but with the club now in the Championship, the value may falter.

In addition to this, Marti Cifuentes’ side have also held talks with Asmir Begovic. The veteran shot stopper has made over 250 Premier League appearances, and most recently featured for the Spaniard’s QPR side.
Changes within City’s goalkeeping ranks comes as no surprise this season. Jakub Stolarczyk seems ready to become number one, whilst the likes of Danny Ward, Daniel Iversen and Brad Young all departed this summer.
How Does This Affect Leicester City?
Although losing Hermansen seems like a negative due to his on-the-ball abilities, it could be a real positive. We already know from various reports that the club need to sell, so that they can buy new players. Therefore, any fee generated, could seriously bolster the squad, especially with a need to replace Jamie Vardy up front.
As mentioned prior, Stolarczyk is more than ready to take the reins, and has already made a strong start to pre-season. With him becoming the number one, Cifuentes won’t feel the pressure of finding a Hermansen replacement.
In the case of Begovic, he may also prove to be an astute piece of business, depending on the factors. The Bosnian international is now a free agent following a stint in Merseyside with Everton. If the wage package remains reasonable, then Begovic may become a positive fit for the squad. He provides experience for younger goalkeepers like Stolarczyk, Stevie Bausor and Jake Donohue, whilst also being a good enough option if called upon.

Inside King Power Stadium: Hermansen transfer clue and Buonanotte’s Leicester City barrier
The latest news from around Leicester City, looking at Mads Hermansen’s future, Facundo Buonanotte’s language hurdle, a senior debut for Henry Cartwright, and more
The Marti Cifuentes era is under way with the new Leicester City manager in the dugout for his first pre-season game on Saturday.
It was a decent start too, with a solid performance, some interesting tactical ideas, and a win.
While the new boss continues to get his troops up to speed on his plans, here’s a look at some of the other news around City.
West Ham appoint former Hermansen coach
City number one Mads Hermansen has been linked to a handful of Premier League clubs over the past 12 months, including Chelsea, Manchester United and Brentford.
West Ham are the latest club to emerge as contenders for the Dane, and the Hammers’ recent appointment perhaps adds more credence to the speculation.

They’ve named former Leeds and Brighton number one Casper Ankergren as their new goalkeeping coach, bringing him in from Danish side Brondby.
Ankergren had been there for four years, and so the first two of those would have seen him working with Hermansen.
Meanwhile, Hermansen has still not featured for City this pre-season as he recovers from a groin injury. He was one of two of the travelling party left out of the matchday squad, alongside Ben Nelson.
Buonanotte had City barrier over lack of Spanish speakers
One City player from last season who will be playing in the Premier League this term is Facundo Buonanotte, with the attacking midfielder back at Brighton after his loan at the King Power.
In fact, a brief discussion about his loan was captured on camera at Brighton as their players returned for pre-season. It suggested that the young Argentinian may not have had the easiest of times adjusting to the club.
