Tottenham to sign Gibbs-White despite Nottingham Forest resistance – Exclusive
This article includes exclusive comment from former Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson.
Morgan Gibbs-White could still become a Tottenham player this summer.
Newcastle United told the Benjamin Sesko price ‘that should get it done’ after Arsenal walk away
Newcastle United will not be getting a bargain as they attempt to sign Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig.
In the wake of Alexander Isak wanting to leave Newcastle United, the Magpies are on the lookout for alternatives.
Benjamin Sesko is an option for Newcastle, with the Slovenian striker yet to secure a move away from RB Leipzig despite months of speculation regarding his future.
It has been reported that Sesko is likely to leave Leipzig still, but it remains to be seen if Eddie Howe’s side can negotiate a deal.
Thomas Frank will have been excited at the prospect of linking up with Gibbs-White at Tottenham until the transfer fell through because of a complaint made by Forest over an alleged illegal approach.
The deal was said to have been all agreed, with Spurs paying the release clause of the midfielder, though it quickly became apparent that things would have to be ironed out.
However, the deal may be back on the cards for Spurs, who would be getting a major new addition to their squad if so.
Forest face a sticky situation after Tottenham drama
Forest now have to decide whether they allow the transfer to proceed, or they risk keeping an unhappy player in their squad, whose sale could provide them with the means to strengthen elsewhere.
However, Paul Robinson believes the transfer will still go through, but it may need to be for a slightly higher price.
Speaking to Tottenham News, he said: “It’s going to happen, it’s just going to drag on until the end of the window. When a player’s head gets turned like that, the deal is almost done.
“Forest had dug their heels in; they’re going to obviously try and get as much money as they can for him, but eventually it’ll go through.
“It’s one of those deals that Tottenham wants to happen. The player is obviously keen for it to happen. And it’s one of those where Forest are digging in to get as much as they can.
“The last thing that Forest are going to want to do is keep an unhappy player at the start of the season. So it’s a deal that should get done at some point, but it might cost Tottenham a little bit more than they want, and it might drag on a little bit longer than they want.“

Frank still needs more at Tottenham
Mohammed Kudus is a great addition, and that is the calibre of signing that Spurs need to keep making to reach the next level.
Gibbs-White would fit the criteria, as would Rodrygo, who has been linked with a move to Tottenham recently.
With a few weeks left until the season starts, Tottenham still have time on their side, though they certainly need to accelerate their plans.

Newcastle United are not going to get a bargain as they pursue Benjamin Sesko
If Newcastle United are going to sign Sesko, they will have to pay a similar amount to what Hugo Ekitike cost Liverpool. The Reds have paid an initial £69million for the Frenchman, plus potentially another £10million in add-ons.
That is according to transfer expert Graeme Bailey, who has spoken to Geordie Boot Boys about Sesko’s future amid interest from the Magpies.
“It depends what Newcastle value Sesko at,” he said.
If they are expecting to get a bargain deal, that is not going to happen.
“I think the ballpark figure will be very similar to Ekitike, from what I understand. If you are offering between £60million and £70million, I believe that should get it done.”
Why Arsenal opted not to sign Benjamin Sesko
Earlier this summer, it had looked like Sesko was going to join Arsenal. However, they have opted to move for Viktor Gyokeres instead.
On the face of it, that reflects poorly on the 22-year-old that Newcastle United are pursuing.
However, that is not the case as Bailey explains to Geordie Boot Boys why Arsenal distanced themselves from Sesko.
With Arsenal, it was nothing to do with his price tag,” he said.
“It was more to do with the player and what they wanted as a club.
“They did an awful lot of work on him and loved him as a player, but then Andrea Berta came in as the new sporting director.
“That played its part. Not that Berta didn’t rate Sesko, he did. But they wanted someone who could hit the ground running. Arsenal want to win the league now. It is not to say they couldn’t do that with Sesko, but Gyokeres is already at that level to perform at the level they
