Midfielder refuses to train 10 days after claims he wants to join Tottenham

A former Premier League midfielder, who has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur this summer, has taken extreme measures to force a move away from his club.

Several defensive midfielders have been mooted as targets for Tottenham over recent weeks, and it is not clear at the moment who is at the top of Thomas Frank’s wishlist.

One of those is Douglas Luiz, whose situation Spurs are said to be monitoring closely, with the Brazilian thought to be keen on returning to the Premier League after struggling for game time in his first season at Juventus.

It has been claimed by some sources that Fabio Paratici is aware that Douglas Luiz wants to join Tottenham, but the former Aston Villa man’s representatives are also allegedly speaking to other clubs.

Over recent days, it has emerged that West Ham have emerged as the front-runners to land Luiz, who is thought to be valued at around €23m-€25m (£19.8m-£21.6m) by the Bianconeri.

Fabrizio Romano has now taken to social media to reveal that the 27-year-old has failed to show up to pre-season training in Turin.

The Brazil international is expected to face disciplinary measures from Igor Tudor’s men, and Romano confirms that he is expected to leave the Serie A giants.

Who are the other midfielders on Tottenham’s radar?

Regular readers of Spurs Web will be aware that Joao Palhinha has been heavily linked with a move to Tottenham over the last two weeks.

It has also emerged over recent days that Thomas Frank is a big fan of Conor Gallagher, whose future at Atletico Madrid is thought to be in doubt.

More recently, there have also been suggestions that Spurs are keeping an eye on Kobbie Mainoo’s situation at Man United.

Bayern Munich hope Tottenham tick one significant box with Joao Palhinha bid

Bayern Munich are hoping that Tottenham Hotspur change their stance on Joao Palhinha, with the Bundesliga club relying on the midfielder’s sale in order to fund their own transfer pursuit.

The last few days have been dominated by speculation linking Palhinha with a move to Spurs, who are thought to be keen on securing the Portugal international.

Earlier this week, GiveMeSport claimed that Palhinha prefers to stay at Bayern and fight for his place, with Tottenham thus having work to do to land the player.

However, a number of reports from Germany have indicated that Spurs are serious about landing the former Fulham man and are pressing forward with talks over the 30-year-old.

Bayern Munich hoping to sell Joao Palhinha to Tottenham

Bild have now become the latest outlet to report that the North Londoners are advancing their interest in the 30-year-old.

The outlet backs up what we have heard from other sources over recent days by stating that Tottenham Hotspur prefer to sign Palhinha on loan.

However, Bayern want Spurs to change their stance and make a permanent move for the Portuguese international.

The Bavarian side are hoping Thomas Frank’s men pay around €25m-€30m (£21.7m-£26m) for Palhinha so that they can use those funds to push through the signing of VfB Stuttgart forward Nick Woltemade.

Tottenham want to sort out one issue before signing Palhinha

According to Alasdair Gold and some other sources, Tottenham want to sell one of their midfielders before making an offer for Palhinha.

The most likely candidate to depart appears to Yves Bissouma, who is surplus to requirements for Thomas Frank at Tottenham after entering the final year of his contract.

However, some outlets indicate that Bissouma is not in a hurry to leave Spurs and is waiting for the right offer, with the former Brighton man thought to prefer remaining in the Premier League

What Morgan Gibbs-White is now feeling about Tottenham Hotspur move

A new report has shed light on whether Morgan Gibbs-White’s stance on a move to Tottenham Hotspur has changed after the midfielder joined Nottingham Forest’s training camp in Portugal.

As reports emerge that Alexander Isak has refused to travel on the pre-season tour with Newcastle United to force through a move, Spurs fans will be wondering why Gibbs-White has not done the same.

Earlier this week, we heard that Gibbs-White has joined the Forest squad in Portugal for their pre-season tour, although he travelled a few days late due to personal reasons.

Some Spurs fans on social media have called on the club to abandon the Gibbs-White deal and pursue other alternatives, with many understandably frustrated by how long this saga has dragged on.

Morgan Gibbs-White remains keen on joining Tottenham

A new report in TBR Football has now revealed that the attacking midfielder remains intent on finalising a move to N17 this summer.

Despite continuing to train with Nuno Espirito Santo’s men, the 24-year-old has made it clear to the Forest hierarchy that he wants to complete a move to Spurs.

The report reveals that Tottenham Hotspur have now started working on other targets over the last few days, with Thomas Frank keen on bringing a number six through the door.

However, getting the Gibbs-White deal over the line remains the priority for the Lilywhites at the moment.

Some outlets have claimed that Forest may simply be delaying the Gibbs-White deal until they sign a replacement.

It was previously reported that Forest were edging closer to landing James McAtee from Manchester City, but their move has become complicated now.

This latest update from TBR Football suggests that while the Midlands club are holding talks over a deal for McAtee, Eintracht Frankfurt and Borussia Dortmund are also showing keen interest in the 22-year-old.
