Craig Hope shares Newcastle United’s next striker target as Brentford close the door on Yoane Wissa talks
Newcastle United are set to move on from talks with Brentford for Yoane Wissa after the Bees completely closed the door on them, despite an improved offer.
Another day goes by, and there is yet another blow in the transfer market for the Magpies. This time it has come at the hands of Brentford, who have told Newcastle United that Yoane Wissa is not for sale this summer.
The news has not been taken well by the 28-year-old, who is reportedly livid with his club. Wissa wants Newcastle, but Brentford’s latest move means he may not be able to get the transfer he is so desperate for.
Reports suggest Newcastle made an improved offer of over £30million to Brentford, but Eddie Howe’s recruitment team are now looking at other options after being told to pay their asking price of over £40million or do not bother.
Newcastle are now looking elsewhere, and Craig Hope has shared the next striker Howe could look to sign after their latest transfer blow.

Newcastle United keeping tabs on Nicolas Jackson after Yoane Wissa blow
With Alexander Isak’s future in doubt, it is clear that Newcastle need to sign a new striker, whether it is to play alongside him, play as back up to him or replace him. Wissa would have been a great partner or backup option, but he would have been an unlikely candidate to replace Isak.
Now that Newcastle have moved onto other targets, they can look at the playing field and see which strikers could be available this summer. That search has now led them to Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson.
According to Hope, writing for the Daily Mail, Newcastle are monitoring Jackson, who has scored two goals across his first two Premier League seasons.
Additionally, the Magpies are keeping tabs on Ollie Watkins, and have made an enquiry to RB Leipzig about Benjamin Sesko.
Fans will remember Jackson for his red card against Newcastle. The Senegal international was caught elbowing Sven Botman during a game at St James’ Park in May.

Yoane Wissa could still join Newcastle United after justified reaction
Wissa is now in a situation where he has made his stance on leaving Brentford clear. The DR Congo international wants to join Newcastle after being informed of their interest, and Brentford chiefs are fully aware of how he feels.
The belief is that Brentford are worried about losing Wissa to Newcastle this summer, so despite an improved bid, they have pulled out of the deal.
However, Wissa’s reaction, which you can argue is justified, may force Brentford into letting him go. Multiple sources have confirmed that Wissa is enraged by the fact that Brentford have forced Newcastle out of the deal, and has stated that he will not play or train for the club until they come to a resolution.
Hope also added that Wissa was given a promise by Brentford that he could leave the club this summer. The deal is not completely dead yet, with intermediaries still working on getting it back off the ground.
The eye-watering amount of money PIF have offered Alexander Isak to leave Newcastle United
PIF have some big plans for Alexander Isak even if he leaves Newcastle United this summer.
Isak has asked to leave Newcastle, having grown frustrated with life at the club of late.
The striker reportedly wanted the Newcastle United owners to show more ambition at the club, while Isak was disappointed he didn’t get a new contract in 2024.
Now, the forward is looking to leave St James’ Park. Liverpool are interested in a move but it remains to be seen if they can afford to buy the forward this summer.
PIF, however, could actually end up paying Isak a huge amount of money to leave Newcastle United.
